“Attractive is put together, confident, and open to new experiences.”

“Attractive is put together, confident, and open to new experiences.” Carol Gunn was interviewed and photographed in 2022 at age 63 at the portrait studio in Sherwood, Oregon by Photographer Rachel Hadiashar.

Time is a gift that life gives us and opportunity comes knocking at its own pace. From the beginning, Carol has cherished time and closeness of family over her own accolades of success. She devoted the past 20 years of her professional career to healing the world, in the capacity of a physician. Before continuing her dedication to being a lifelong learner, Carol spent the first part of her professional life as an Industrial Hygienist protecting workers from overexposure to hazardous materials and chemicals. She is grateful for the monumental movements women have made in her lifetime; that includes the passing of Title IX, giving women the access to equity of playing sports, women the ability to own a credit card, as well as women’s rights of abortion choice and contraceptive access.

‘Buckle up- it will be a ride- which life is all about.’ Carol has lived by this motto as she learned to navigate life in an alternate way, after great loss in a short time span with the death of her father during her medical school residency, followed later in life by her mother (who always made Carol feel beautiful), her only sister, only brother, aunts, uncles and cousins, all passing in only a five year span. This pivoted Carol to cherish opportunities and experiences at an even greater capacity and focus. Currently, along with her spirited Labrador Retrievers, Carol is buckling up for the adventure of where retirement is taking her into her next chapter of life: A life free from the worry of what others think and advantageous to experience new activities. She is living in the light and peace of self confidence.
