“I’ve learned that attractiveness is a quality that shines through one’s essence; it’s far beyond skin deep. I’ve learned that attractiveness is something one feels, not something one visually sees.”
-Brenda’s Father
“When your values are clear, your decisions are easy. Then you get to work.”
Having a father and grandmother who were holocaust survivors, Brenda was molded with the conviction that being strong was essential. This created the armor of not caring what others thought of her from a young age, especially in a classroom surrounded by Roman Catholic Italians. This rooted her perspective that attractiveness is a quality in which shines through one’s essence; it’s far beyond skin deep. Brenda has learned that attractiveness is something one feels, not something one visually sees. In addition to her resilience, she came from a home where the Hebrew concept of “tikkun olam = to repair and improve the world” – is a constant practice. This guided her into a lifelong service of working in the human services sector, to create a more equitable society through providing free expungement to community members who need it the most through compassionate listening and validating the life journey of others.
Brenda is passionate that at any age, especially 50 and above, you are incessantly learning, dreaming, setting goals, and following your passion. A myth she desires to bust about love for women 50 and above, is that your love life can absolutely burn more immensely and intensely than earlier years. Brenda is a person who values connection on a deeper level, the preciousness of life, possessing an open heart, and the ability to comprehend how your life has led to the present day. When love is alive in Brenda’s life, those moments are when she feels exceptionally beautiful. Saying ‘Yes’ to life adventures has allotted her the soul-awakening experiences of learning about healing from renowned Shoshone medicine man, Rolling Thunder, to a moonlit midnight romantic picnic by Wakina Falls, to repelling rock walls in the beauty of Yosemite. A current ambition that sets her soul on fire is to be an artist in residence in US and international galleries. In addition, she’d like to hold workshops and have the resources to explore new mediums, as she makes a point to paint each day. One of the greatest gifts Brenda is currently giving herself is putting life’s passion before expected obligations.
