Sari Peterson, 59

“Whatever you do, do it fully. With your whole being – live fully, love with your whole heart. Don’t hold some back, or you’ll be watching your life instead of living it.”

“I have learned how to be content without becoming stagnant.”

“I’m also passionate about our Earth. Not only in a save the planet way, though I am that also. I’m talking about the interconnectivity of all life on the planet, to each other and to Earth Herself.”

With long easy strides and a friendly smile, Sari enters the room, confident of her place in it. Open eyes and an easy laugh belie the walls built long ago to keep her sense of self safe. Now, at nearly 60, she no longer cares what others think. The only approval she needs these days is her own.

As a fiber artist, Sari enjoys working with her hands to create art, and enjoys the process of constantly learning more about her craft. Fiber art requires her to empty her mind, slow down, and lose herself in the process. She is passionate about spinning, and says teaching others to love the craft is magical.

“It took 60 years for me to wear my body with pride, to speak my truth without censure, and to recognize that the very small circle of people who are truly dear to me love me for myself, sometimes even in spite of myself, and I don’t give a damn what the rest of the world thinks of me.”
