“Now I’ve learned to accept my wrinkles as a road map of life.”
Margaret hopes the world views her as beautiful both inside and out, with a heart and actions of honesty. She perceives the outward wrinkles acquired with time to be a roadmap of her life. While she believes her generation is associated with being old and unimportant by subsequent generations, Margaret feels young, vibrant, important and sexy. In reflecting on times she felt ultimate beauty in life, Margaret recalls a treasured photo of her standing next to her mother, on her mother’s diamond birthday. Since her mother passed away in 2004 (following her father in 1992), some of her favorite material possessions are her mother’s favorite little white sweater and her dad’s glasses. Family is Margaret’s whole heart and world, with her two grown children and 6 (almost 7) grandchildren. She prioritizes time with them over work. It is solely her love for her children and grandchildren that motivates her to get moving in the mornings.
The classic adage ‘do something you love and you never work a day in your life’ encouraged Margaret to enter a career as a flight attendant, a natural for her fondness of traveling the globe. A bucket list item she has achieved is visiting the amazing pyramids in Egypt – and her 5 year plan is to retire, with a condominium in Egypt to admire one of the seven wonders of the world. One of her greatest rewards of getting older is possessing the funds that permit her to enjoy trekking around the world. So whether it is traveling to Egypt or spending time with family, Margaret’s view is ‘Life is what you make of it.’
